The Samyang 10mm T3.1 ED AS NCS CS VDSLR MKII Lens is the cine / video version of the Samyang 10mm T3.1 ED AS NCS CS Lens featuring the same excellent optics, but with integrated gearing for video rigs with follow focus systems.
The Samyang 10mm lenses are ultra wide-angle manual focus prime lens designed for CS / cropped sensors APS-C cameras offering excellent optical quality and resolution, providing an exceptionally wide field of view of up to 109.5 degrees rectilinear image.
The Samyang 10mm lenses are the first Samyang lenses to feature a brand new nano crystal anti-reflection coating system (NCS). These new coating provides even lower reflection factor than Samyang’s UMC coatings. The NCS coating technology offers exacting process to apply anti-reflection coating more evenly on the surface of the lens. Other benefits brought by the nano crystal layer include improved light transmission, increased resistance to reflections resulting in maximum image contrast.
Coupled with a aperture of T3.1 which is considered fast for such a wide angle lens, offers good low light capabilities.
As with all Samyang lenses, the 10mm is very well built for a lens in its class. Optical construction is 14 elements divided into 10 groups, including 2 aspherical AS lenses and one extra-low dispersion glass element. The Samyang 10mm VDSLR features a fixed, built-in lens hood.
Although the VDSLR versions have been developed primarily for professional cine / movie making purposes, they can equally be used for stills photography. The Samyang VDSLR versions are rated in T-Stops rather than F-stops which is usual for movie camera lenses. F-stop number expresses the speed of the lens on the assumption that lens transmits 100% of the incident light. The T-number expresses the actual light transmission, which is more accurate, and is the standard in professional cine lenses.
